MAGITEK ACADEMY ALUMNUS. Oscar completed a dual degree program at the Magitek Academy, earning a degree in both magitek automation and robotics, and also a position as a teaching assistant. People who attended the Academy or worked there at some point in the past decade might remember him.

HIGH SOCIETY. Although he has since drifted far from that lifestyle, Oscar enjoyed a privileged upbringing and education thanks to the Galenus family’s high standing. Did you go to the same school? Or frequent fancy galas and dinner parties? Chances are you ran into him a couple times!

GARLEMALD RESTORATION. Like many of his countrymen, Oscar has been dedicating considerable time and effort to rebuilding his homeland, mostly helping with repairs of broken magitek and disabling rampant warmachina around the city.

ALL THINGS MECHANICAL. Spending enough time around Tertium, you might spot a massive snowmobile parked outside the station. It’s his, and he’s happy to talk about it if he doesn’t have anything better to do at the moment. The same goes for the little magitek drone that follows him around sometimes and responds to the name “Bitty”. If you express an interest in his work or have any fascinating gadgets and gizmos yourself, his curiosity will most likely win out over his wariness.

DO YOU NEED A GUIDE? Oscar speaks both Garlean and Common fluently, making it easy for him to communicate with members of the Ilsabard Contingent or to act as an interpreter for his comrades. In addition, having grown up there, he knows the Capital well and can navigate the ruins with relative ease. If you need to get from A to B, he’s your man – although he doesn’t expect more than a simple “thanks” for his help from fellow Garleans, the same generosity is not extended to those not from the Empire. Simply put: if you need his services, prepare to pay up.

I’m an adult and I will only RP with people over 18.

I prefer realism and lore-compliant RP, both short-term and long-term. My posts are usually kept short. Almost any theme is fine with me, but dark/mature themes require OOC discussion first. I strongly prefer ordinary characters to hero types with superpowers and whatnot.

No godmodding or metagaming please.

Bigotry, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. will get you blacklisted, even if you're "just joking".

Don't approach me if your goal is to live out your fascist power fantasies through roleplaying as a Garlean. Neither I nor the people I RP with tolerate nazis.

Keep IC & OOC separate. I’m not my character and he’s not me – as a Garlean who grew up influenced by heavy propaganda, he holds beliefs and might say or do things I OOCly disagree with.

I always try to communicate clearly and expect the same from my RP partners. If you have any concerns, please tell me, rest assured I’ll take them seriously and do my best to resolve any issues.

I’m not interested in ERP and pushing for it will earn you a place on my blacklist. Romance is not entirely off the table, but let's not jump to that right away.

With the third eye sitting on his forehead as a proud display of his Garlean heritage, people are usually inclined to dismiss the rumors about him not being pureblood as malicious gossip. However, imperial records suggest said rumors are not so baseless: he was registered at birth under the name “Oscar Oakes”, the surname later being changed to the much more Garlean-sounding “Octavius”. Citizenship granted only after the name change.

Oscar enlisted in the imperial army at the age of 16, but his military career didn't last long – he wasn't even able to complete his basic training and was discharged.

If someone digs into his medical records, they’ll learn that he suffers from chronic pain that affects his whole body. He wears a harness and braces to alleviate the pain, although it's not easy to notice given that he's usually covered from head to toe whenever he's around others. Still dependent on painkillers.
